Cleaning and Deodorizing Guide for Silicone Ice Trays

Silicone’s porous structure easily traps odors, so proper cleaning is key to longevity. For daily care, scrub crevices with a soft brush dipped in warm water mixed with baking soda to remove fructose residues and limescale, preventing bacterial growth  .

Deep deodorization has two effective methods: First, vinegar steaming—place the tray in a steamer with half a cup of vinegar below and steam for 10 minutes to neutralize odor molecules. Second, coffee grounds adsorption—fill the tray and let sit for 12 hours to eliminate deep-seated smells  .

New trays need boiling for 20 minutes before first use. Store them sealed in bags, away from smelly ingredients. Dusting with starch after drying prevents sticking.
